Happy Friday, world traveler!
In our Field Trip Friday series, we are sharing our favorite virtual field trips so that you can learn all over the world – from anywhere in the world. Today we are taking a trip to the sunny city of Tampa, Florida.
The Florida Aquarium
The Florida Aquarium has plenty of activities for the whole family to do at home. In the family-friendly series called Sea-Span, you and your family can learn interesting facts about sea life, take a drawing class, do a diy craft, and share in a singalong. They even have an entire STEM curriculum for kids of all ages to learn about marine life.
Positive Powerstories
Tampa’s Powerstories Theater is committed to sharing positive stories with the community. Each week, they share submissions taken from all over the globe in their initiative called PositivelyPowerstories. Each story is bound to make you smile and bring some happiness to your day.
Glazer Children’s Museum at Home
The Glazer Children’s Museum started an at-home campaign called GCMatHome Here, you can choose from different topics to get moving, experimenting, exploring, and solving. Check out this activity, Ice Cream Play Dough, and when you finish, check out other fun things to make on their page.
MOSI: The Museum of Science and Industry
The Museum of Science and Industry created a separate site to provide resources dedicated to coping with COVID. There they provide tips for staying healthy, helpful information to better understand the virus, and creative ways to transform your house into a lab that they call teachable moments. The MOSI educational staff also hosts STEAM-based activities on Facebook live, which you can check out here on Thursdays and Fridays at 9 a.m. EST.
Tampa Bay Coloring Book
The City of Tampa Bay created a fun way to spend the day at home. Check out their site and take a virtual trip with this Tampa-themed coloring book. Color in sights like their famous Ybor City rooster, the Tampa Bay Bucs pirate ship, and their beautiful and historic Minarets.
That’s it for today’s field trip! Don’t miss out on our next field trip, where we will take our virtual travels straight to Cleveland, Ohio.
